What Could Be Better Than That??

Statements that tell you very little and subsequently keep you worrying:

"It is very rare."  Does that make me special??
"Many people have only one occurence."  Oops, guess I'm not one of the many.
"There is no proven way to prevent it."  Pray and wait.  Wait and pray.
"Tests results show no sign of bone narrow, blood or organ involvement".
That is good news!

We humans are uniguely funny people.  The fear of the unknown can paralyze us or at best obstruct our progress.  I know something about fear.  It's been with me since I was a very young child and until Jesus became my Savior, Lord, and Friend, I didn't have a chance of overcoming it.

A partial lyric written by Rufus H. McDaniel describes the power of Jesus living within one ordinary woman - " What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought since Jesus came into my heart!  I have light in my soul for which long I have sought, since Jesus came into my heart!"

Over the years the light of Christ has gradually removed the hold that fear had on me, layer by layer.

Whew!!!!!!!!

However, we have an enemy who wants to convince us that we are not different but rather still stuck in our old patterns of thinking and behavior.

1 Peter 5:8-10 warns and exhorts in Eugene Peterson's paraphrase "The Message":

"Keep a cool head.  Stay alert!  The devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping.  Keep your guard up.  You're not the only one plunged into these hard times.  It's the same with Christians all over the world.  So keep a firm grip on the faith.  The suffering won't last forever.  It won't be long until this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ - eternal and glorious plans they are! -  will have you put together and on your feet for good.  He gets the last word, yes, He does." (check this out in your favorite translation)

and then a promise in James 4:7 from the Holman Christian Standard translation:

" Therefore, submit to God.  But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

And then my mind returns to Jesus and His invitation (with a promise) in Matthew 11:28-30 from the  New International Version"

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

So, I ask myself and you, dear reader -

What could be better than that?

...........................................NOTHING!!!
